Please Help Honor My Mother

Donation protected
My name is Kali and I am starting this gofundme page to help my disabled mom Leslie.  Let me give you a little backstory.  In 2007 my father hung himself in our garage and my mom instantly became a single mom.  I was just 8 when my father died and I am now 18.   My mom worked my whole life to raise me to make sure I was safe, happy, and healthy.  Most of my time growing up my mom was working 2 jobs just to get by and to make sure I had what I needed.  She never asked for help and never complained no matter how hard things were for her and she made my life as normal as it could be for me.  She is the kindest most giving person I know and I cannot remember even once in my life that she put herself above anyone.  She would help anyone she could even if it meant she went without.  I know maybe lots of people feel that way about their mom but it's just true.

About 3 years ago my mom got sick with pneumonia.  She just kept getting sicker and sicker but could not afford to take time off work or go to the doctor to try and get better.  After about a year after she first started getting sick things took a turn from bad to worse.  Mom was working all the time and she did not know but because of the untreated pneumonia her body was filling up with fluid and she went into congestive heart failure.  Life has never been the same since then.  Her health steadily declined for another year with 2 more times of going into congestive heart failure and her lungs starting to fail her as well.  So now here it is 2017 and my mom has went into congestive heart failure 7 times and her lungs are very bad.  She has late stage COPD and is completely disabled.  She lives on an oxygen machine and can barely walk anymore.  Even getting to the bathroom is an hour long chore for her because of not being able to breath.  She doesn't have a long life to live and is completely homebound.  She does finally have a care worker who comes in 5 days a week to help her bath, cook, clean and help out with normal household things that my mom can no longer do.  I watch her everyday struggle to take 4 steps without gasping for breath and yet still she never complains.  She lives on her disablility check which is about $1000 a month so that barely pays for the bare minimum of anything yet she still never complains and she smiles each day no matter how bad she feels or how helpless I know she feels.  She pays a trailer payment and lot rent and electric and gas for her trailer.  She pays for her food and to have a basic phone so in case something happens she is able to call for help.  She literally has not bought a new piece of clothing in 3 years and I think lives in 2 night gowns and still my mom manages to smile everyday and be thankful for her life.

So now the reason I am asking for help.  My mom lives in an old trailer but feels pride because at least she is able to stay home instead of going into a nursing home.  It's not ideal but she is able to keep her dog who she loves dearly.  But now two things have happened that unless fixed will make it so my mom has to go to a nursing home and I cannot stand to see that happen.  She just wants to live what she has left in her own home with dignity.  Her gas hot water heater went out early in the year and my mom has been without hot water all year long.  She got several estimates and all of them are from $1000 to $1300 dollars because where the hot water heater leaked it rotted the floor so they have to rebuild that area in order to put a new hot water heater in.    I just want to raise enough money to be able to get her hot water heater replaced before the freezing temperatures get here and the pipes all freeze.  I know this might seem like something trivial  but for my mom it is the difference between being able to die at home or having to go to a nursing home.  Thank you for the time you have given up reading this and for any small contribution you could make to help my mom.

Sincerely,

Kali
