Please help with Pipers (now Gracie) eye surgery

Hi Friends! Does everyone remember my last foster dog, Piper? She was the blind double merle that was dumped by a bad breeder. Her new family changed her name back to Gracie and she is living her absolute best life. She has two beagle brothers and has even won over the family cat. She gets to run and play safely in her new large fenced-in yard and has gained all the confidence in the world. As a foster, it's a dream come true to see this all come to fruition for her.

The first day I saw her, I couldn't stop crying. I didn't know what her future would look like, and it just broke my heart. She didn't do anything to deserve that life. Fast forward to today, getting pictures from her new mom at soccer games, playing in her yard with her doggy brothers, to snuggles in bed with a family that loves her dearly. THIS is what she deserves.

Gracie was born with a genetic defect that happens when breeders try to get certain merle colorings for their puppies. When two dogs with the merle gene mate, there is a 50/50 chance their offspring will be blind or deaf or both. Gracie was born with eyes that are too small for her socket. There is a lot of space between the socket and eye, which can lead to a lifetime of painful eye infections because bacteria and dirt can get behind the eye. It is recommended that Gracie get her eyes removed to prevent these problems and pain. These surgeries are super expensive, and the rescue has already taken in 3 transports this summer and saved countless dogs.

I hate asking for handouts, but if you ever met Gracie, you would know why I am doing this. Having her for the month I had her changed me. It was so hard, and it was so rewarding. That little pup changed the way I see the world, and I am so grateful for her. Just hoping we can jumpstart this for her lovely family, every little bit helps.
