Help us rebuild an impoverished community destroyed in Bali

We witnessed almost an entire neighbourhood here in Bali (right next door to us!!) burn to the ground this afternoon, leaving the most impoverished of Balinese with absolutely nothing.

Still trying to wrap our heads around all of this.

From 0 to 100, without any time to think, as the fire ripped this neighbourhood apart!

Absolutely horrifying to witness families trapped behind an inferno of fire, screaming for their lives & that of their children, as we desperately pulled them to safety and did what we could to stop the fire from spreading. 

Exploding gas bottles, roofs & walls collapsing under the intense heat, molten plastic dripping from their makeshift water towers, live cables collapsing & sparking more fire, electrifying the water on the ground, as those without shoes got shocked whilst trying to flee!

40 homes lost & many more livelihoods destroyed in less than 30 minutes, as access to water was limited to deep wells & buckets.

Thankfully, no lives lost as of yet…

These incredible people live in the toughest of conditions in squalor, yet still manage humility, graciousness and a smile amongst all of this afternoon’s chaos. If you’ve been to Bali, you’ll know their smile is enough to melt the toughest of hearts.

Amongst all the loss, pain & suffering Mandi’s & my family are experiencing at the moment, we are literally pleading for your support to help rebuild the lives of this community, who have just lost everything today.

A beer & a burger ($25), a couple of cocktails ($50), a meal for two ($250), whatever you can afford, please dig deep friends. It’s not much to you, but life changing for them!!

Every cent donated will go directly to the clean up, rebuild of homes, clothing, bedding, fresh water, electricity, food, kids toys… and other basic necessities.

We are punching for $50k, so donate, share, repost… do whatever you can to help us smash this target out of the park! If we do, we’ll set up something in perpetuity for the community with the additional funds.
