Please Help the Families of 9 Hamilton Ave

On January 29 at 1:11am, our lives got turned upside down when a drunk driver crashed into a condo complex leaving 5 families homeless, and also unable to re-enter their homes for their belongings. After going through one family’s living room, he also broke a support column that was holding up 3 apartments, and the building has now been condemned due to severe structural damage. Everyone ran out frantically, afraid the building would collapse with everyone inside, and didn’t have time to grab anything.
A couple of these families didn’t have any renters insurance and are now left covering their own hotel expenses which are adding up quickly. The driver only had $25,000 in total coverage for property damage so his insurance will not cover any of our expenses.
We have no idea IF and when we will be allowed back inside to grab any clothing or other belongings. Due to the structural damage the building won’t be fixable and everyone now needs to find a new place to live. Right now we are hoping they can at least secure the building to make it safe for us to go inside and retrieve our belongings out but it is still unsure if that will be possible.
One family’s 2 work trucks were damaged and are still underneath the building because if anything is moved, there’s a possibility it can all collapse. Their only source of income has now been cut off since these trucks were used by the self-employed father. It is devastating.
On top of it all, the children are now mentally affected by this whole situation. It has been hard on everyone. Any help would be eternally appreciated. Thank you!
