Please help Sara save her motherless filly’s life

Hi there!

My name is Ginger- I’m reaching out to anyone who can help my friend Sara Mariani save her orphan filly’s life!! Please help us by sharing her story.

I’ve watched my friend Sara keep watch on her overdue pregnant mare Fillygrey - taking up residence outside of her heart horses stall - waiting- and waiting - for an entire month!!! It really moved me that Sara and her man JC slept in the back of her car - which she parked outside of the stall, hoping to not miss her sweet mare’s expected birth. Day after day I’d ask her - “Baby…? No Baby…?” Needless to say this back and forth went on and on….for a full month!! I’d offer her showers and food if she could pull herself away…which was one time in a month!!! (Only because her man would take on the watch).

The total devotion she and her man was offering their horses really played on my heart strings!!!

After waiting forever it seemed - her mare was showing signs that she was finally ready to give her baby to the world. But the elation turned to devastation as Fillygrey was in an unusual amount of pain and stress. She frantically called her vet! She ended up watching in horror as her mares life slipped away just as her new filly was entering this world!!! The vet finally showed up just as Fillygrey had passed away - an utter nightmare for any horse owner. That night her mare’s uterus prolapsed (which means she expelled the uterus after pushing out the filly and the placenta) during birth. This is a very rare occurrence!! Her filly survived for now, but she still desperately needs a nurse mare. She’s been so desperate to save the foal who’s been named “Babygrey” in honor of her Momma that Sara is even weaning her 2.5 month old early, so she can save this new fragile life. But the mare isn’t truly taking to the new born filly and misses her own baby. She’s not being cooperative and the search continues to find the right mom for this orphan foal Babygrey. Sara is considering possible new moms as far as Oregon, Nevada and the southern most parts of California.

We are hoping to find a mare that’s recently lost her baby, (hopefully close by Santa Rosa CA)- then we can mend two hearts and save one life!

Her vet bills will be astronomical for this filly!! She sent her heart horse for a necropsy, to find out if there was anything she could’ve done differently. Traveling and transport expenses for a nurse mom will also be substantial.
