PLEASE HELP PUEBLA!

Why am I raising money this way?

In 1985 we had a very strong earthquake in Mexico, 10,000+ people died that day…on the days after the big earthquake the city was in chaos, I remember those two following days as perhaps the scariest I’ve ever lived….on those first weeks after the ‘sismo’ my dad came back from the office with this amazing looking box which contained cheese; he said a guy he knew went there to sell all this amazing US products (back in those days we got US stuff only through black market). We sat at the table and saw my mom open the box, right there, the wrap that surrounded the cheese said in big bold letters: “THIS PRODUCT HAS BEEN DONATED BY THE USA TO THE RED CROSS IN MEXICO TO HELP THE VICTIMS OF THE EARTHQUAKE”…..my mom paralyzed and asked my dad how could he buy such thing!! meant to be for such a good cause and we were going to eat that?.....my dad repeated numerous times he didn’t know!, he felt awful and right there we got up from the table and left back to his office to try to get things straight…..I’ll never forget that day!

As painful as it is to admit it, my country is corrupt, corruption is rampant and I don’t trust any of the organizations that work there; I trust though, the voluntary work that my mom does, she will know where things are needed and she’ll do it herself!, thank you for trusting us, I hope this clarifies a bit the reason why I have to do it this way.

Love you all!

Hello my name is Monica Norena and I'm from Puebla, Mexico , today it was already a sad day for my country, it was the 32nd annyversary of a devastating earthquake that killed thousands...still fresh on my mind!....and as a bad joke of nature, hours after an earthquake simulation they got the real thing, a 7.1 magnitude earthquake , trepidatorie....just now  I heard from my family and they are OK but many are not, people are working trying to get people out of buildings...
My mom does great job helping people and I trust her more than any institution I know in Mexico to get the help where is needed , any bit will help Puebla and the towns in Puebla that were also affected.
As of today, my mom assisted the urgent call for volunteers and goods for the Hospital del Nino Poblano, loads of food and diapers have already been delivered and she'll continue to go as the days and needs progress, most of the funds will be directed to this hospital and the institution she volunteers for "Moyopo".   Thank you so much for helping, I'll keep you updated.
