Hello, they call me Babs I live just outside of Buffalo. I am a single mom. I have four children my youngest one still lives home with me. I have two kitty cats. One is mine one is my son’s. I moved into this place because I’m disabled. I am a cancer survivor and I also have many other disabilities so I am on disability and since moving in the apartment that I’m in for the last three years I have been exceptionally sick only to find out this past few months that it is because of the mold from my landlord neglecting to fix the roof, which I told him needed to be fixed three years ago, he fixed the inside and never fixed the outside and it is again leaking exactly where it was leaking to begin with he never fixed the roof so black mold has continued to grow underneath the roof inside the wall infecting all three apartments that are in close proximity to it. I can’t even open my door. We are climbing out the window upfront to try to avoid opening the door and letting more spores come into the house. If you don’t know anything about mold, please do your research. It can make you extremely sick and it has made me and my son and my cat extremely sick. My son was in the hospital for an acute asthma attack and he has issues respiratory issues and now is presenting with G.I. issues which can also come from mold. I am experiencing the same plus extreme inflammation to where I can’t even hardly take care of my daily routine. I can do a few dishes. I can make supper pick up a little bit and that’s about it for my day. My cat is having seizures. My other cat is having skin allergy issues, constantly losing fur. I had no idea this was all due to mold until I started researching when I seen the black mold on the outside of my apartment. I never realized it could affect us this way. Right now I cannot afford an apartment and the health department and Belmont has been notified. I’ve contacted Neighborhood legal Services. They are not helping or haven’t helped yet. I need to get out of here ASAP. The only thing I can think of is to get a vehicle an SUV I just need enough money for a down payment. I can get the car and make payments. The payments will be about $300 which is about close to what I pay for rent because I am on housing assistance . I only receive $900 a month to begin with. I can give a breakdown to anybody who wants the proof to show what and where my money goes. I need help. I don’t have any family. They are all passed away. And my friends don’t seem to care. They think it’s not a big issue because they’re not all allergic to mold. Please if you can donate $5.00 or $2.00 dollars a cup of coffee anything and if I can get enough donations, I can reach my goal of being able to have a down payment a decent down payment so that I can have a better chance at getting a car the better the down payment, the more likely to get the vehicle and it will make my car payment more affordable. My son can go stay with his dad which he does not want to do, but he needs to have stability and a proper address. My son is not being affected quite as badly as me and my cat. He doesn’t want to go stay with his dad he wants to be with me. But for now, this is the only way I can see getting out of here and getting out of the toxins every day we stay here we continue to breathe in the mold because nobody will help fix it or get rid of it. And every day we continue to breathe in more toxins and it builds and builds within our systems. My main concern is me and the cats but I can take me and my cats and we can stay in the car until I can either save up enough money maybe to put a down payment on a house something that is safe and clean. This is gone on ever since I’ve been disabled and been in public housing. The landlords do not care. I can show you receipts of my landlord, not even caring ignoring my messages, ignoring my phone calls I have proof of everything. I even have him on video saying that people who are disabled in low income are not normal. And mocking my cat having seizures. He claims that the mold on the outside is not mold and that it is algae. I’ve tried to explain to him, but he refuses to take responsibility or help. So please anything that you could give to help towards my goal me and my son would truly appreciate and we are very grateful for anybody who is able to give and help. This is the only solution that I can come up with because nobody is helping me and again I can show you proof of everything proof the health department don’t help with mold and proof from Housing. I have proof of everything. I’m so sick and so is my cat and I’m afraid if he has another seizure, he’s not going to make it and my son would be devastated and myself as well please if there’s anyway you could help, I have a video on TikTok it says trigger warning please go watch that for more information.
