Please help my sister Rachel fight cancer.

Hi, my name is Gemma. I have set up this page for my beautiful, brave Sister Rachel who is fighting breast cancer.

This summer her life was turned upside down when she found a lump in her right breast, sadly it is cancer and not a cyst like she hoped.

On September 2nd she underwent surgery to remove what was originally thought to be a 3cm tumour, but it was soon apparent that it had rapidly grown to 10cm in just under 8 weeks. After having a partial mastectomy and lymph removal, more tests concluded that sadly the whole of her right breast is in fact an aggressive tumour. The cancer has spread into her chest cavity and the skin covering her breast is cancerous also. She has a long arduous journey ahead of her with more surgery the end of this month and radiotherapy and chemotherapy starting the week before Christmas. Rachel, her husband Nathan and their 6 children are devastated as we all are and extremely scared. I feel helpless... this page is the only thing I can do right now to try and take away some of the worry, stress and financial burden at this horrific time as both Rachel and Nathan are self employed and sadly not entitled to claim any benefits. They are each others world and need to be able to be together through Rachel's treatment, it will make a massive difference in giving my sister the strength to fight hard! It is a worry they don't need right now. We, her family will be a constant support for them and the children, but Rachel needs her husband by her side and he needs her. As in some cruel twist of fate, Nathan has only just lost his father to cancer just weeks before.

Rachel is a beautiful person with a heart of gold, a fantastic mum and I'm so proud to call her my big sister. It breaks my heart to see her go through this. She is always the person who goes out of her way to help others, so I'm hoping the fates will return the favour now.
