Plaza Fund
Donation protected
Our Akron General Office plaza business partners have been particularly hard hit by the shutdowns and work-from-home orders. Let’s show them that we appreciate their service and that we are thinking of them while we are working from home. We will likely be out for an extended period of time, saving many weeks of lunch and coffee expense, please consider donating some of that savings back to our friends and partners. We are purposely making this a quick-hit program to get help to them now, so please donate today.

My Name is Stephanie Fall and I live in Copley, Ohio and work in Akron, Ohio. I'm the FirstEnergy Employee who opened this funding project and am handling some of the logistics, but there are multiple employees running this effort. GFM does, however, wants the name of the originator to be present in the description. I have been working at the FirstEnergy headquarters since 2011 and have frequented these small businesses for lunch and a cup of coffee (Quizno’s, Wafa’s, and Angel Falls) with many of my co-workers. Many of our employees even take advantage of getting a lunch time haircut or manicure at the salon (Tammy O’s). We all want to help them through this time and see them return when we are no longer working from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The way the money process works:
GoFundMe collects the money from your generous credit card donations. After a little time and a small service fee, it will become available and can be deposited in my bank account and then provided to these small businesses and their employees via check or electronic transfer if they prefer. Because these businesses are not collecting revenues at this time, the employees with offices in our building, while mostly working from home, want to help them cover fixed expenditures, such as rent, utility payments, cover employee lost wages, and assist in start-up costs when they are ready to return.
This bank account will be audited by a team of management level employees at FirstEnergy to ensure all funds have been distributed to the small businesses within our plaza.
