Playground for Children in Bwindi
Donation protected
We are passionate about giving the children in this rural corner of Uganda somewhere to play!
We are fundraising for 2 projects:
Indoor Play Area - in the paediatric ward
The indoor play area would be to lift the spirits of children on the ward and aid in their recovery.
The main features of this area will be:
- wooden tables and stools (with fixed metal loops and beads, drawing, and an etchasketch fixed to the table);
- giant wooden abacas on the wall;
- box of painted wooden blocks for building;
- colourful plastic carpeting for the floor;
- toy wooden charcoal stoves and utensils;
- a large, low-level black board; and
- bookshelf.
Efforts have been made to design durable, and where possible, fixed items to ensure the play area will last!
Playground - just outside the paediatric ward
The playground would be for the children who are nearly better as well as the siblings and children of patients and staff children who currently have nowhere to gather and play.
We have designed a playground using mostly old car tyres (brightly painted) and wood. Features will include:
- climbing tower;
- bridge;
- slide;
- see-saw;
- obstacle course; and
- motorcycle made from tyres.
These pictures are of other playgrounds but are similar to what we are hoping to build:
We are hoping to build the play area and playground by the end of September if we raise the funds in time. Any contribution you can make towards our 'play project' gets us one step closer to enriching the lives of these beautiful children.
Thank you!
