Pretty Little White Girls
Spende geschützt
Hello Friends! This summer I am jumping into my first role as producer. This is something that I've known would be part of my journey for quite a while and I can't think of a better piece of theatre to start with than Emily Neves's Pretty Little White Girls!
DAM Creative is proud to produce the inaugural workshop of Emily Neves's short play, Pretty Little White Girls. PLWG is a comedic exploration of white guilt, white narcissism, and the blind spots that come from being raised with privilege in the American South. How do pretty little white girls tear down the walls that keep them from connecting and navigating conscientiously in a post-racial world? The girls blunder their way through, trying in earnest to grapple with, reconcile, and hopefully rectify the atrocities of their forefathers and peers. They can't quite get it right, but have plenty of good intentions to pave the way.
After the workshop, the piece will be featured in Mildred's Umbrella's Museum of Dysfunction later this summer, and Emily needs to explore the piece in depth before sharing it with the community. Produced by David Matranga, directed by Peter Ton, and dramaturgy by Leslie Swackhamer. Starring Stephanie Dew Elliot and Sarah Farmer.
Help us raise money to pay our artists a stipend for the eight-hour workshop, secure rehearsal space leading up to the June 30th opening night and cover the cost of supplies. We would like to raise this money in the next two weeks as we get everything in place.
The chance to bring great, thought provoking work to the theatre community is one that I am passionate about. Any amount of help to get this play off the ground would help us tremendously and mean the world to me personally. Thank you for taking the time to check out our campaign.
