Birdie is the most cuddly, friendly, loving, caring puppy you have ever seen. We adopted her over a year ago and she’s been the light of our life. We have not been able to stop smiling since. This all changed Thursday, May 1st, 11am. Birdie had been feeling sick for quite awhile, we talked to many vets until we found our way to a specialist. She was the hungriest and chubbiest doggy of them all, and yet she stopped eating. She stopped eating and only some times drank, she puked, she limped, she wasn’t herself. Finding this concerning, the doctor did some tests and found masses in her liver, she has what he called stage 5 lymphoma (cancer). The vet bills were already getting unfathomably high; let alone the $500-$600 a week it costs for chemo. My 20 month old Birdie has an expected 1 to 2 months of life without treatment. That phone call on May 1st changed everything, all I want is for my family be able to see our puppy live her life without pain. As hard it is to admit, we live in a world where money can be the factor that decides life or death, so we reach out to our community for support in this difficult time.
