They stopped trying and began to foster, and they have fostered several children through the years.

In March of 21 they were given the most amazing news, there was a newborn baby girl who needed an adoptive placement. They accepted, and their dreams of completing their family had come true.

It was when baby Arlo was a couple months old that her moms started to notice that something might be wrong. And then began their journey.

Today, Arlo is in critical condition, and is such a fighter. She wants to live, and she is strong and brave.

Arlo has a number of diagnoses, but the underlying cause of this is causing detriment to her brain and body.

Her team of physicians, geneticists and neurologists have been unable to diagnose. She had a gene mutation related to a movement disorder, cerebellar hypoplasia, dystonia, seizures, vocal chord dysfunction, nervous system dysfunction, she is unable to control her movements and she is at this point disabled. She eats through a feeding tube. She cannot regulate her body temperature.

As of today, Arlo is their legal child as the courts pushed through their adoption. And while their hearts are filled with joy, they are worried about Arlos future and quality of life.

Cortney was unable to return to work because Arlo requires round the clock care, administering meds and feeds, therapy, and to turn her from side to side, in addition to multiple regular therapy and dr appointments a week, she will not be able to return to work.

Ricci has used up all of her sick leave due to Arlos many hospitalizations and the family could use our help to offset costs. They do receive a stipend that helps to offset medication and med equipment costs.

The money raised would help allow Ricci time off while Arlo is hospitalized, cost of fuel and food. In addition to this, our mother is fighting breast cancer and Ricci wants to medically and safely transport Arlo to Florida so that they can finally meet. This will require multiple stops along the way there and back. But before either of their health worsens. They also plan to take Arlo to Boston where they are researching the gene mutation specific to Arlo. Flying would be hard due to the kind of seat she requires and all the medical equipment Arlo needs to survive.
