Pizza Solidarity With UAW Local 4121 Strike!

On Tuesday, May 15, the 4500 graduate and undergraduate Teaching Assistants, Research Assistants, Readers, Graders, and Tutors who are members of the UAW 4121 at the University of Washington are planning a one-day strike if the UW administration fails to meet their demands. Amongst other issues, they are fighting for pay increases, child care subsidies, fully trans-inclusive healthcare, affordable and accessible mental healthcare, and for new initiatives promoting university-wide departmental equity and combatting sexual harrassment and discrimination on campus. 

Their strike is part of a growing wave of educators around the country both in K-12 and more recently in Higher Education who are standing up for increased funding for public education and a better standard of living for educational workers.  Educators and supporters in Seattle stand in solidarity with their courageous fight to defend their members and to improve the learning conditions for UW students. 

To show our solidarity with their struggle, Social Equity Educators, a social justice caucus within the Seattle Education Association, is raising funds to provide pizzas to their Strike Rally on May 15.
