Help for Brenda's Medical Care

Spende geschützt
Three months ago, an undetected aneurysm on the left frontal lobe of my sister-in-Law, Brenda's brain ruptured. Without blood going to a large portion of her brain, she collapsed immediately and was unresponsive. After 2 ambulance rides and hours of tests, she found herself in front of a neurosurgeon. Brenda was given under 20% chance of surviving the first 48 hours. Following extensive brain surgery, she was left in a coma. The coma lasted weeks, during which she had basal spasms leading to multiple strokes. She was given slim odds of coming out of the coma, and if she did it was all but guaranteed she'd not be the same Brenda we knew, with a high likelihood of never moving past a near coma classification and a quadriplegic state. The doctor told us to prepare for the worst. My brother told the doctor respectfully that he could keep his opinion to himself. He replied, "I know my wife." For a month or more, she remained in a vegetative state, unresponsive and leaving my brother to stay by her side in the hospital to care for her day and night. It took a severe toll on him, but he never stopped believing. Now, at a little over the 3-month mark, Brenda is talking, holding her drinking glass, moving her arms and feet, and interacting with others. There is a limited indication on either left or right side of the multiple strokes she had. The therapist was reading lyrics to Pink Floyd's Wall, and Brenda was finishing the line, not just the chorus. She is fighting back on every account and is asking about coming home. Her progress has been a miracle with the help of love, prayer, her strength and the physical therapy she is receiving. Still, she needs to continue her therapy and be in the presence of good medical providers to continue to improve. The issue now is that the staying rate at this rehab facility is close to $800 a day, $24,000 dollars a month. Insurance, of course, will cease payment and my brother and Brenda will face losing everything. He continues to downsize his life, selling vehicles and putting the house on the market, but that is only a portion of it. If there is such a thing as "soulmates," these two fit the definition. Please help us to bring Brenda home. Any little bit will help get through the coming weeks and months to get her home.
