Phil & Lou walk for the MND Association

At the start of 2022, Lou Hussey & Philippa Catt set a plan to complete the London Capital Ring walk. A 125km route around the green belt of outer London (length depends on who you ask!) in 15 sections. On 6th February ‘22, we completed the first section - Woolwich Foot tunnel to Falconwood station. Then we didn’t get to complete Section 2 - Falconwood to Grove Park - until May ‘22. And then it ground to a halt!

For many reasons, our challenge was interrupted but the main one was that Phil’s dear friend & partner, Bruce Adams, had been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in April 2021. He was becoming increasingly affected by this cruel disease and Phil was trying to spend as much time with him in Aberdeen as possible.

Bruce died on the 13th October 2022.

So now 2023 is here, we wanted to pick up where we left off and complete the last 13 sections of the walk. Lou came up with the idea of asking for sponsorship so it gives us a kick up the bum to complete the walk, but more importantly to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association. https://www.mndassociation.org/ A charity which offers support to people with MND and also supports research with the aim to find a cure.

We appreciate that the current economic climate is presenting many challenges but we would be very grateful if you can find your way to sponsor us , even a small amount will help the charity.

Stage 3 is from Grove Park to Crystal Palace, is 12.5km and we are planning to do that on Saturday 28th January, so if you are interested in keeping us company, while we explore the greenspaces of South London, then let us know.
