Peyton's Gift

Donation protected
Cardiomyopathy. A chronic disease of the heart muscle, in which the muscle is abnormally enlarged, thickened, and/or stiffened. The weakened heart muscle loses the ability to pump blood effectively, resulting in irregular heartbeats and, in some cases, heart failure.

On Sunday November 20th 2016, I learnt about this disease, and it's ability to strike anyone, at anytime. Any age, young or old.

Peyton Lee Mitchell. A beautiful baby girl destined for greatness. At just 3½ weeks old tragedy struck, as Peyton's life was taken due to this horrible disease, leaving behind her heart broken parents Jac & Pete, and big sister Kelsey.

Before Peyton was born, I was approached by someone who had asked if I was interested in cutting and donating my long hair, towards those who have lost theirs while battling cancer, which I then thought about and later said yes. Not long after I had confirmed my commitment to such a worthwhile cause, this devastating event of Peyton's passing immediately affected me, as she was my beautiful baby cousin.

Unfortunately due to my long hair being colour treated I am unable to donate the required length to create a wig for someone who has lost their hair due to cancer. However, since Peyton’s passing I am still taking this opportunity to raise awareness for Cardiomyopathy and it’s extreme outcomes. In doing so, I will still be cutting my hair in the hope of raising valued funds for 4 separate organisations, who have invaluably supported the Mitchell family throughout Peyton’s precious lifetime.

The 4 organisations are:
·        Woman's and Children's Hospital, Adelaide
·        Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide
·        Sids and Kids SA
·        Meningie & District Hospital
All profits raised will be distributed evenly to the above mentioned organisations in Peyton Lee Mitchell's name.

This will be taking place on Saturday May 13th 2017. We will be live streaming this event, and the link will be uploaded to this site as we get closer to the date.

Every donation, either large or small, will be very much appreciated.
