Hi!. I'm raising money to help with some of the costs involved in Pete's funeral. But first let me tell you about my friend known as Stig. I first met him at work, where he was a police officer serving at Plumstead Police Station. Described by many as a maverick, sometimes late, scruffy, with a potty mouth, and a liking for driving fast, during the time I knew him he served the people of London and did them proud. With one of the biggest hearts he would willingly help anyone. If that would be moving house, or offering a roof over someones head for a while whilst they found new digs, he was always there for people. One day Stig was on his motorbike on his way into work and whilst going through a green light he was hit by a drink driver who went through a red light. He injuries were immense with many broken bones, a fractured skull and an injury to his brain he was very lucky to survive. However this also ended Stig's career as he was medically retired from the Metropolitan Police Service due to his injuries which broke his heart. But ever the optimist he lifted himself up and just got on with it creating a thriving business for himself as a first class driving instructor with the goal of moving to Australia one day with his family for a new life. Quite deservadly this dream came true and Australia became a new home, with exciting new chapters and a promising new life for Sarah his wife and his two children Seren and Emry's. On the 19th February 2024 Stig went for a surfing lesson. This comes as no surprise to me, a man who squeezed everything out of life and what it could give. Upon completing the surfing lesson Stig suffered a fatal heart attack. Stig touched so many lives with his kind, caring nature. He lit up a room whenever he walked into one. He leaves behind his wife and two children who are now on the opposite side of the world and it's very difficult for his friends and family to help Sarah. I know many of you feel you want to help and a number of you have suggested this. We know in difficult times if we can lift at least some weight of someones shoulders in their time of need it makes life slightly easier for them. I would like to lift some of the financial burden from Sarah's shoulders and invite Pete's friends and colleagues to show their love by placing a donation which will be forwarded to Sarah and her two children upon completion. Ive set the bar at £3k subject to change. x
