Help Petar Joldic with his medical needs

One month ago our cousin, Petar Joldic was a typical ten year old with lots of energy and very active. He was always laughing and smiling and loved climbing trees with his friends. Petar loves animals and music, he is the best dancer in his Serbian folklore group. He is dearly loved and extremely close to his family especially his 9 year old younger sister Vanja who he is connected/bonded to and loves enormously! Petar’s parents Vladimir & Natasa (Sevic) say “he has so much love in him; he has a kind heart and a kind soul and is very smart. He loves everything, he loves life!”

Today Petar lies in a Belgrade hospital bed. In late May Petar was being treated for tonsillitis which led to a high fever which progressed into uncontrollable seizures. From June 9th – June 20th he was in an induced coma due to the seizures. Petar has undergone multiple blood tests, MRIs, brain scans, EEGs and spinal taps, but his doctors still do not have an answer as to what is causing his illness.

Since the family has no concrete diagnosis as of yet and he has been under hospital care for almost a month Petar needs to be transported to another hospital in Europe. Natasa and Vladimir are trying to figure out which country they are going to go to with him for further testing so they can get a diagnosis and he can start to receive proper treatment. This cost would not be covered by the parent's healthcare.

The family is doing everything they can to help Petar; however, financially they can’t do any more. Petar’s father Vladimir has not worked for the last 8 months due to Covid related complications. His mother Natasa works as much as she can while still being there for Petar, her husband and her daughter. Petar’s parents have been by his bedside as much as they can. They drive 75 kilometers (46 miles) to see him for only a few moments, as the hospital will only allow short visits while he is in the ICU. Vladimir, Natasa and all the family in Serbia and the United States are extremely stressed about the lack of progress with his illness. We need your help! Petar needs your help! Everyone in the family feels powerless.
