Persecuted for the Truth: Help Me Stand Against Injustice

Hi, My name is Taqadum A-Khatib,

I am an Egyptian researcher living in exile in Germany, after I brought forward the maps of Tiran and Sanafir, the Egyptian regime turned against me and dismissed me from my position at the university. They also filed a lawsuit against me to recover the scholarship funds. I responded by filing a legal case against the arbitrary decision to dismiss me from my university position and to stop the financial claim. What happened is that the judiciary these days has a different viewpoint; it rejected the case I filed against the arbitrary dismissal decision, thereby affirming the state’s right to pursue the financial claim, which has now escalated to nearly one and a half million Egyptian pounds, with 4% annual interest.

Even though I was arbitrarily dismissed before completing my PhD, and later persecuted—all just because I tried to prove that the two islands are Egyptian—an intelligence report was written against me by the cultural attaché, who now holds the position of head of the city of Fustat, where the Grand Egyptian Museum is located. The consequences of that report are what I’m facing now.

Now I find myself in a new battle with the ruling regime of my country. I have now launched a new fundraising campaign (to pay the amount being demanded from me).

بعد أن قدمت خرائط تيران وصنافير، قام النظام المصري بملاحقتي، فتم فصلي من عملي في الجامعة، كما رُفعت ضدي دعوى قضائية لاسترداد أموال المنحة. وردًا على ذلك، قمتُ برفع دعوى قضائية للطعن في قرار فصلي التعسفي، والمطالبة بوقف الملاحقة المالية.

لكن ما حدث أن القضاء في هذه الفترة أصبح له توجه مختلف؛ إذ رفض الدعوى التي تقدمتُ بها ضد قرار فصلي، مما ترتب عليه ضرورة إلزامي بدفع المطالبة بالمبلغ المالي، التي فرضها النظام علي لتصل إلى ما يقارب المليون ونصف المليون جنيه، مع فائدة سنوية بنسبة 4%.

رغم أنني فُصلت تعسفيًا قبل أن أُكمل مدة دراستي، وتعرضت لاحقًا للتنكيل، فقط لأنني حاولت إثبات أن الجزيرتين مصريتان، فقد كُتب ضدي تقرير أمني من قِبل الملحق الثقافي، الذي يشغل حاليًا منصب رئيس مدينة الفسطاط التي يقع فيها المتحف المصري الكبير، وكانت لهذا التقرير تبعات لا أزال أواجهها حتى اليوم.

أنا باحث مصري أُقيم في المنفى في ألمانيا، وبعد معارك شرسة خضتها هنا ضد جماعات ضغط قوية، أجد نفسي اليوم في معركة جديدة، ولكن هذه المرة ضد نظام بلادي.

لقد أطلقت الآن حملة تبرعات جديدة، من أجل سداد المبلغ المطلوب مني.
