On Wednesday, October 10th, a category 4 hurricane ravaged so many areas of the coast. From St. Marks to Panama City and inland, homes, businesses, jobs, communities, and more were destroyed. The cleanup has begun, and we're amazed at the response and compassion that our area has received. The electricity and water are on in many areas, but theneeds are still great!
Many of you have asked how YOU can help! We were encouraged to start this campaign as a way that you can have a part in helping those that have been affected by Michael. The Forgotten Coast Parrot Head Club promises to be the best stewards of your donations as possible. We will also do our best to report where the funds are going.
Why Us? Our Parrothead Club is a small, but mighty not-for-profit club in the Florida Panhandle. We spend our time volunteering in all aspects of our communities. With over 2,000 volunteer hours already logged for 2018, we believe in giving back. We have also raised $5100.00 for The Alzheimer's Association this year. One week later, we raised over $11,000 (with the Civic Club and Doc Myers' Island Pub and Sports Bar) for those in Eastpoint, whose homes were destroyed in a huge wildfire.
The Forgotten Coast is truly a treasure. It is one of the only remaining areas along coastal Florida that has kept it's "small community" feel, and a reason why so many of us choose to live and vacation in this little bit of Paradise. It's also why a "little ol hurricane" cannot scare us away. The people are strong. Very strong. And we're going to do the best we can to give them a helping hand! We hope you'll join us!
