Pay for NHS protest organiser’s £10k fine
The organiser of a protest over the insulting NHS pay offer of just 1 percent has been fined £10,000 by police in Manchester
Mental health nurse, Karen Reissmann organised a safe, socially distanced protest in central Manchester on Sunday 7 March following the announcement that the government has recommended just a 1 percent pay rise for NHS staff.
The NHS has been left on its knees by government underfunding and the devastating impact of COVID pandemic.
The fine on Karen Reissmann is an attack on our right to protest - it is nothing to do with protecting our safety and everything to do with protecting a government that has presiding over more than 120,000 deaths and which has failed the NHS.
The fine will be challenged - and if that is successful any money raised but unused will be given to a mental health charity.
