The Passerine Project: Brooklyn

A MUSICAL BENEFIT FOR
                  the AFGHAN WOMEN'S WRITING PROJECT

The Passerine Project is a 4 week program (Nov 2014) at The Brooklyn School of Collaborative Studies that will lead 25 public school students through the process of co-writing songs with Afghan women poets.  Using curriculum created through a successful LA project in Spring 2014, students will compose original songs while studying in-depth the issues surrounding human rights for women in Afghanistan.  The project will culminate in a fundraiser performance on December 5th to raise money to directly fund brave Afghan women writers in their quest to tell their own story.

Your gift today supports the students who then support and honor their co-writers in Afghanistan.  It is a DOUBLE BENEFIT for all involved and a 100% tax deductible donation.  The Afghan Women's Writing Project is a 501c3.

Donations will cover the operational costs involved in running this once-in-a-lifetime program for students who would not otherwise have this opportunity.  The Brooklyn School of Collaborative Studies student body is 77% below the poverty line, yet graduates 90% with 100% college acceptance rate.  These kids know how to make the most of an opportunity.  Help them as they use their voices to empower fellow writers in Afghanistan!
