Help Laua-an, Antique Volunteers

Hello!

 My name is Lyrin Mae Dominguez. I was born and raised in a simple coastal community in Laua-an, Antique, Philippines.

 As a college student once, I was fortunate to conduct a research study assessing the socio-economic impact of super typhoon Haiyan in 2013, in my hometown. I was able to learn and witness first-hand the vulnerabilities that people in my community face when disasters of this scale hit. This experience inspired me to pursue developmental assistance and resilience building work in Iloilo and Aklan provinces for four years, before I left for abroad.

 The typhoon (Typhoon Paeng) that affected the Philippines last 28 October 2022 was the strongest to hit our community again since Haiyan, so much that the massive rainfall, flooding and forceful winds caused two major bridges that connects the northern towns to the rest of Antique Province, to collapse. Our municipality included, is cut-off and under a State of Calamity and it may take some time before roads and bridges become passable again. Despite this, responders and volunteers bear the raging rivers daily to transport food, supplies and medical equipment, to augment the daily need of thousands. This GoFundMe aims to support these brave volunteers helping logistics, people and supplies cross the treacherous waters.
