About Me:
My name is Paige Morency-Notario, an international development professional, yoga instructor, and artist living in the Washington, D.C. area. I am passionate about development work, especially in Latin America. I'm excited by this opportunity to work on a wide variety of development projects in the field.
About the Work:
I'm currently on a 6 month journey as GlobalGiving 's in-the-field representative, working on nearly 50 development projects throughout Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Peru, and Ecuador. I will be helping these projects with their fundraising efforts, monitoring and evaluating their progress, as well as identifying new projects/Non-Profits in need of GlobalGiving's support.
About GlobalGiving:
GlobalGiving connects organizations from all over the world with donors who can support their work. GlobalGiving's non-profit partners address issues in education, health, women's empowerment, microfinance, environmental sustainability and more.
Why I Need Your Donations:
This position is unpaid and I am expected to fund my entire trip including travel within the region and accommodations. GlobalGiving estimates that I will need $6,000-10,000 to sustain myself and my work for 6 months.
GlobalGiving will reimburse expenses for flights to and from the region, travel medical insurance, a teeny tiny stipend, and workshop funding.
But other than that...I'm on my own! I will need to travel every day/few days/week in order to make it to all of the 50 projects in 6 months. This means lots of flights, buses, accommodations, etc. Plus, the region is HUGE! Jungles frequently block land travel and it often takes several days to get from country to country by bus, making it necessary to fly. There are only a couple of airlines who have a monopoly on the area, leading to high prices. I will be doing this as cheaply as humanly possible, but some help would be greatly appreciated!

5 dollars: will feed me for a couple days
10 dollars: will pay for one in-country bus ticket in Costa Rica
25 dollars: will pay for lodging for a night
50 dollars: will pay for my in-country bus tickets in Colombia
75 dollars: will pay for my bus ticket from Costa Rica to Panama
100 dollars: will pay for one flight on a little plane that I have to take to get to two of our organizations in the Peruvian amazon
400 dollars: will pay for a flight from Panama to Colombia
