Desarea's Journey to Miss Texas

Hi, my name is Desarea Murray, current Miss Southlake 2015, and this summer from June 28th through July 4th I will be competing for Miss Texas.  In 2014 I decided to join the Miss America Organization and pageant to run for Miss Texas. The Miss America Organization is one of the largest non-profit scholarship organizations in the nation that donates over $45M via scholarships to many young women to assist in furthering educational endeavors.  I have earned my BSN/RN from Abilene Christian University in 2013 and now currently employed as a Clinical Nursing Supervisor for Epic Health Services overseeing a staff of 60+ pediatric home health nurses and 22 family cases. My platform for the Miss America Pageant is “Love Being Healthy” and preventing childhood obesity.  I strongly believe healthy lifestyles start at a young age. With 1/3 of children and adolescence in America currently being classified as overweight and obese I want to implement healthy practices across the nation for our youth with the Miss America platform.

I am asking for your support in my pursuit of the Miss Texas crown. As you can imagine there are many costs to being in the Miss America Pageant and any monetary amount you feel compelled to share is greatly appreciated. I currently have a goal to raise $10000.00 and your generous donation will put me one step closer to achieving my goal! This is the first pageant contest I have ever entered and truly is a once in a life time opportunity for me to compete in the Miss America Pageant. After this year I will no longer be eligible to compete in the Miss America Pageant due to the age limitations. I truly am blessed to have this opportunity and I would love for you to have a part in it by supporting me! Even if you are not able to contribute in a monetary way I appreciate you taking the time out of your day to read my page and encourage you to watch me shine at the Miss Texas Pageant this summer!
