We had just walked into Walmart to pick up some items needed for Thanksgiving. Placed a new muffin tin in the cart because I needed to make some mini pies. Then I got a phone call….

The call no mother ever wants to receive. My daughter was crying in hysterics on the other end. As I was trying to calm her down to find out what happened I already knew whatever it was… we needed to leave. As we were rushing out of Walmart and back to our car she had said she was in a car accident.

All the questions went through my head.. Are you okay? Is Elena okay? Where are you? It took 25 mins to get to her and 10 mins of it we were driving on the shoulder with our hazard lights on, passing miles of stopped vehicles. Traffic was at a stand still and I knew it was because of the accident. As we saw the emergency lights get closer I just wanted to hop out and run to her. We stopped behind one of the fire trucks and in front of the parked traffic . I see my daughter walking towards me with my granddaughter and I thanked God that my babies were okay.

I ran towards them and hugged my daughter, took my granddaughter, Elena and placed her in my car for warmth. It was maybe 35 degrees outside. I sat with her while my daughter was talking to the State Trooper When we got the all clear to leave we went straight to the hospital just to make sure. my daughter was okay. She is cleared but will be pretty sore tomorrow. Thank God!

Her car is totaled. Its a complete loss. My daughter is 22 and is trying her best to do life. She is a single mother of a two year old. She works over 80 hours a week, even on days off, she will go in to pick up shifts. This car was her first car she bought. She worked hard saving money, budgeting. This is a HUGE set back.

She is strong and will presevere but I know sometimes it takes a villiage. I decided to start this go fund me to try to help. She just got a promotion as an assistant manager and NOW has no way to get to and from work. She is just a single mother, trying to catch a break. Anything would help. As for me, I am just so grateful my daughter, granddaughter and the other occupants in the 4 other vehicles involved are okay. Hug your loved ones. Life is so fragile and anything can happen at anytime.
