Hello there, my name is Danny Thain & I am the founder of TWSPP (the world suicide prevention project) My journey to #ENDSUICIDEFOREVER began just this summer after being directly affected by suicide for 3rd time.
When I say "directly", I mean my friends, people I grew up with, and people I cared about.
There is no way to describe when you receive the news that your friend isn't here anymore. It's a sobering thought and extremely sad to think of the loneliness that these individuals must have been feeling to result in taking their lives.
Imagine being so down that you don't want to be here anymore and don't feel like anyone can help you. Suicide rates are at the highest they have ever been in human history, which needs to be fixed.
I started this fundraiser because we are making a start and contributing to #ENDSUICIDEFOREVER This is a big goal, and it needs focus. I thought of a rehabilitation centre dedicated to individuals battling suicidal thoughts or anything suicide-related.
A place where they can come and be healed, and this is where this vision has brought us. We are starting the first "strictly mental health rehabilitation centre" and providing a unique and much-needed service.
I say first because there are centres that involve mental health and drug and alcohol rehabilitation but not just strictly mental health rehabilitation and not in this way.
We are fighting to buy a 300 acre, 16-bedroom Scottish estate to turn this into the space needed for these vulnerable individuals.
The estate will provide significant amounts of space, peace, and quiet and have everything that is needed for this service within the estate.
We will have a group of professionals to handle each aspect of the healing process unique to each individual. This building and team would allow us to provide a programme which would include, Counselling, spa and wellness, exhilarating activities, lots of outdoor and nature time, work within the estate to give the individuals purpose, and nutrition and also being in a group of people similar to each other and everyone helping each other through the process. Individuals will be able to check in with us after an assessment and sign up for a programme and stay with us for as long as needed.
This will significantly impact the mental health community positively and provide a service that will contribute towards ending suicide.
This requires money, and this is where I ask people to see through the eyes of their hearts.
We are looking to secure £3,000,000 to create this. The £3,000,000 would be used to:
• Secure the estate.
• Renovate the estate inside to make it suitable for individuals to stay with us.
• Create the outdoor activities that are part of the programme.
• Allow us to build a professional team on-site that handles every aspect of the healing journey.
• Allow us to invest in income streams so we can self manage this whole facility (so that we are not at the mercy of grants and donations every year)
• Allow me to keep running this and to allow us to pay for things that will further our cause and help take it to where it needs to be and, most importantly, give this service to the individuals that need it most completely free of charge.
This is the start of something big, and we don't just see this in Scotland; we see this service worldwide. Please help us to make a start and contribute to #ENDSUICIDEFOREVER
