Our Daddy, Joe Turner Jr has always put anyone in his path before him. He has dedicated his life to his ministry, his landscaping business, and caring for his family. He is TRULY the epitome of selfless.
In September 2016, our Dad was admitted to the hospital for a stroke of the right side of his brain, affecting the mobility of the left side of his body. While in the hospital, tests were run on him only to discover he had previously experienced about 4 mini [TIA] strokes a few months prior to the admisssion. What was also revealed was that there was really no source of the stroke. He worked very hard to regain use of his left side and slowly , but surely, with the help of our amazing mother (who has herself had 2 back surgeries previously) got most of his use back. He even got back to playing the piano every night.
However, the week after thanksgiving, in December 2016, our Dad was sent back to the hospital as a result of a second stroke worse than the first. This stroke affected his speech, and his right side. He was kept in the hospital for a week and was sent home after the tests came back negative. The doctors proceeded to prescribe him Warfarin, a blood thinning agent. We had the most beautiful Christmas, thinking we were out of the woods.
Last night, December 31, 2016 our Dad was brought into St Joesphs hospital for a third time in the span of 4 months with what is now his third stroke. This time he is unable to speak to communitcate with us. This is devestating to even write, but I hold my strength in that God would not give our family or most importantly him more than we can handle.
Of course with all the tests and rehabilitation that is needed to our Father and our family is in need of help. He has no idea this is even being done, but to look at your Daddy literally stress about things other than getting better, such as the care for his family, his health insurance, his disability, and financial well being, it makes the meaning of heartbreak so tangible you question your own strength.
Joe Turner has touched so many lives with his gentle voice and quiet wisdom. We ask for your help to touch his life. We just want to find the answers to keep our Daddy here.
