As any of you know Mason was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in July of 2014. There is an amazing technology called Continuous Glucose Monitoring or CGM that would enable us to better control his diabetes. The device has a sensor that in set into the fatty tissue and continuously checks blood sugar. This enables you to predict highs and sudden lows. You are also able to monitor it from your iphone using the cloud, which would be amazing to have so I feel safe sending him to school. Unfortunately our insurance does not cover it as it is "not medically nessecary to manage diabetes". The cost is enormous. For the transmitter it is $1500 and 4 sensors $300. The sensors last 7 days. I'm trying to raise enough for a years worth of sensors and a transmitter. #type1diabetes #cgm #dexcom
