Adopt a Family, Miami - #fillthefridge

As grass roots as it gets - we are a recently formed group of four women and thousands of concerned neighbors and friends that began by feeding 200+ families in Miami Beach that are known as the “Invisible Workforce.” These kind, grateful people are the ones who make our city work, behind the scenes. Without them, to be clear, Miami’s businesses revolved around hospitality cannot and will not make a comeback. They live day by day, check by check, meal to meal and since the city went into quarantine, they have not been able to work at all. They are OUR restaurant dish washers, cooks, delivery people, valet, construction, housekeepers, nannies, etc… As we type, their utilities are being get shut off, and their landlords are already notifying them that they will start filing for eviction as of June 8th (when the eviction ban will be lifted), just as the city re-opens, they may or may not be employed. The thought of seeing these parents with their KIDS thrown to the streets with their belongings is something we will not accept. We cannot. However, when there is a will there is a way, so with your support we want to ask for your help to keep food in their refrigerators, their electricity on, and their rents paid so that we can make sure that these KIDS have a roof over their heads.

Thank you all – it takes a village and has been extremely heartwarming in a tragedy like this where we are all affected, to witness the pure compassion and generosity of our community.
