Tru Rock Revival Magazine Helping the Homeless

*All funds donated through this joint effort will be held in an account established by Abbe from Tru Rock Revival Magazine and dispersed accordingly.

Hi everyone, I am Melanie Darvidoff, a fortunate 60 year old woman living in Asheville when I am not on assignment with my job which takes me away from this beautiful city for months at a time. Oh, I also happen to have Parkinson's Disease, which I've had for over 8 years now. I organized this GoFundMe with Tru Rock Revival Magazine to help raise funds for a grant program being established by Tru Rock to help several unfortunate people in Asheville who have become homeless as a result of bad luck, economics or sickness.

My good friends Abbe Davis and Kreig Marks, husband and wife team, co-founders of Tru Rock Revival Magazine, and community advocates are establishing this grant program through Tru Rock, which will be safeguarded to benefit several people in the homeless population of Asheville by helping them attain jobs so that they can become self-supportive and independent. Abbe and Kreig are in the process of establishing a 501c3 for this grant program with a community board of directors.

Before you rush to judgment, please read this fully.

-Not every homeless person is a drug addict.
-Not every homeless person is an alcoholic.
-Not every homeless person suffers from mental illness.
-Not every homeless person desires to be homeless.
-Not every homeless person has always been homeless.
-Not every homeless person is a criminal.
-Not every homeless person does not want a job or a career.

How will this Grant Program benefit the homeless?

This grant program is being established to benefit many people who have become homeless in the following manner. There will be an application to complete and a strict screening process that must be followed for anyone to be eligible to receive any grant funds:

1. The grant will provide funds for conducting stringent background checks on the applicants.
2. The grant will provide assistance in resume writing and proofing.
3. The grant will provide assistance in helping them complete job applications and preparing them for job interviews.
4. The grant will provide them with assistance with transportation to and from their job interviews.
5. The grant will provide for temporary housing and 3 meals a day for a specified time period.
6. The grant will provide for proper attire for their job interview.
7. Once the beneficiary receives a job, he/she must volunteer at ONE to help others in the homeless community as well with the grant process.

Who are Abbe and Kreig?

Abbe and Kreig are originally from South Florida where in 2018, they established Tru Rock Revival Magazine, an online publication that brings true life interviews each month with some of the top names in the rock music industry. Some of the artists they have interviewed are Sammy Hagar, Lita Ford, Nita Strauss, Peter Frampton, Phil Collins, Breaking Benjamin, Disturbed, Godsmack, Warren Haynes, Paul Rodgers among many others.

In August of 2022, Abbe and Kreig, their twins and 2 dogs relocated from South Florida to Asheville. Said Abbe; "After living in South Florida for most of our lives, we decided we needed a climate that has the 4 seasons, beautiful nature and a supportive community. We've often traveled to Asheville and had fallen in love with the beauty and the community here and the amazing music scene. The community has been so welcoming and looking outside or driving around and seeing the mountains and nature every day is a blessing." Said Kreig; "Since we moved here in August, neither of us has looked back, only ahead. We love everything about Asheville and are fortunate to have healthy kids, a nice home, kind neighbors and new friends here. Abbe and I decided once we were settled, we wanted to do something to help others in the community who are not as fortunate but deserve comfort, safety and security. That is why we've established this fundraiser with our dear friend Melanie. Now, we're hoping to reach out to many of the local music venues, breweries and local bands to have them partner with us in this effort. They will all be recognized in Tru Rock for their efforts with us. There are so many people living on the streets here who need help."

At Tru Rock, Abbe is the Chief Editor and a music journalist. Away from Tru Rock, Abbe is an HR Manager, Energy Healer, Life Coach and former elementary school teacher with a passion for music. She has been a consistent fundraiser for Cancer and Parkinson's research for many years. When not working at Tru Rock or raising their 10- year-old twins, Abbe is a professional singer/songwriter as a soloist and with her band, Sordid Fable.

As for Kreig, he is the Publisher of Tru Rock and a music journalist. Away from Tru Rock, he is a specialized fitness trainer and exercise physiologist, choosing to work primarily with people living with orthopedic and neurological health limitations such as Parkinson's, MS, strokes, traumatic brain injuries, chronic pain, and joint replacements. Kreig has been highly involved with the Parkinson's and MS community since 1994 when his late father was diagnosed with Parkinson's and a year later, his Aunt was diagnosed with MS. Kreig has been an avid fundraiser for both Parkinson's and MS since then. Over the years, Kreig has often given free fitness services to several people living with Parkinson's or MS who are on limited incomes and cannot afford to pay for his services.

Moving forward to 2023, Abbe and Kreig now reside in Asheville, NC. where Tru Rock is headquartered. They have expanded the publication to also promote local talent and local businesses.

"Abbe and I want this fundraiser to be very successful so we can assist as many people in the community as possible. Melanie has designated Abbe to establish an account where all the funds will be held and then dispersed to those in need."
