After losing her nephew, George, to suicide in 2017, Anita's sister rallied her family to come together to form Team G Cal. Through their efforts and yearly participation in the Out of the Darkness Walk, they have raised over $95,000 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, aiding in their mission to deliver the mental health resources needed to save other lives and provide hope for those affected by suicide. In addition to her work with AFSP, Anita is constantly working towards her achieving her biggest dream: To purchase a property of her own, where she will build and operate a ranch for underprivileged children so they may experience the simple joys of childhood outside the city, including learning about farming, riding horses, and enjoying carefree days spent running barefoot in the grass.
