Mutual Aid Fundraiser for Myanmar's CDM Workers

Myanmar is going through a massive political crisis where the military staged a coup on February 1st citing voter fraud as the reason. Several leaders of the government body have been arrested including State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi and President U Win Myint.

To resist the unlawful military coup, civilians have adapted various forms of civil disobedience. Peaceful protestors have been out daily in every major city and towns in each state while civil servants/government employees have gone on labour strikes. With an estimated 50-75% of civil servants/government employees on strike, they have not received their salaries.

The financial assistance that you contribute to our fundraiser will directly go to civil servants/employees on strike. As of now, we aim to prioritize states with a majority ethnic population as civilians there are more likely to face financial trouble. In terms of distribution, we aim to support each civilian participating in a labour strike with around 75-85 dollars. The majority of our funds are transferred to civil servants/government employees currently on strike. We also redistribute a smaller portion of our funds towards other various causes that need urgent mutual aid such as IDPs, food drives and medical bills as a result of police brutality and airstrikes.

Going forward, your support will help us continue this fight against fascism. In order to dismantle the military's oppressive regime, we will continue to need urgent financial aid for our civil servants on strike. Please donate what you can.
