Short Summary
Thank you for taking a few minutes to read through our project. We set this up as a way to help raise some money for embryo adoption.
We'll answer one big question before telling you a little more about ourselves. Why One Dollar, One Hope? It came from the idea that we're not looking for a few people to give big amounts of money. We just wanted to share our story and felt that if people were fine buying $0.99 apps and songs, then maybe one more dollar our way wouldn't be too much to ask. Even if you don't contribute to our project, we'd love for you to simply help spread the word.
Some quick info about us and our situation. We've been married for 16 years and have always wanted a family. Over the past 13 years we have seen doctors upon doctors, changed our eating habits, seen specialists, had surgery, and even tried multiple rounds of artificial insemination. There were obviously different plans for us starting a family. Three years ago we finally felt that we were being lead towards domestic infant adoption. It was a wonderful experience and were able to welcome a son to our family. Since we still have not been able to get pregnant on our own we decided to look at adoption once again. This time we're looking at embryo adoption.
Why we need your help
As we started the process of looking at embryo adoption we started to see the cost involved. We knew that bringing a child into a family wasn't going to be cheap, but insurance tends to help a lot when a couple concieves a child. The companies we work for currently don't have an adoption assistance program and insurance will not cover any of the expenses below.
If our application is approved, we will be working with an agency that focuses on embryo adoption. While an embryo adoption can be less expensive than a traduitional one, it still takes a lot. Some of the expenses are:
Application Fees $500
Home Studies $1500
Program Fees $1000
Social Worker $300-$600
Matching Fee $2000
Contract Fee $3000
Embryo Shipping $2500
Embryo Transfer $3500-$6000
As you can see, things start to add up pretty quickly. We won't bore you with the mountain of paperwork that we're going through, but we want to be open about where the money is going. There are plenty of other fees, that of course are subject to change.
