Organization of African Students (OAS) Fundraiser

Donation protected
The Organization of African Students at the University of Virginia (OAS) welcomes EVERYONE who has an interest in or love for Africa. We strive to bring together those who share similar experiences and those who are looking for new experiences, creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for Africans at the university, while also embracing non-Africans who are interested in learning about the continent or being a part of a community of great people. We do this through events such as Africa Day, the Umoja Ball, educational forums and some small-scale events throughout the year.
Each year OAS donates money to a non-profit Organisation. This year, our goal is to create a scholarship fund that will be awarded to students at the Charlottesville High School from African decent. During this Spring semester, OAS and cosponsors will put on Africa Day. It is a day dedicated to celebrating the continent through a themed fashion show that showcases the diverse fashions throughout the continent. The day is also filled with poems, rhythmic performances of traditional dances from around the continent, and an original dance drama (performed by the OAS Dance team). The awardees of the OAS Scholarship fund will also be presented during Africa Day. Through this event, OAS brings a piece of Africa right here to UVA grounds so students get to celebrate themselves and the beauty of their culture.

It is our hope that you will help us make these wonderful events possible. A percentage of the money raised from this gofundme will be allocated to the OAS Scholarship fund, the rest will go towards our logistical expenses.

Thank you in advance for your contribution.
