My name is Garry Brown,I am a RAF Veteran (Regiment) living in Oldham.
Myself, and a fellow RAF Veteran(Tornado Squadron ) Steve Johnson, who are both OAFC season ticket holders of many years, have formed an Armed Forces Supporters group at Oldham Athletic FC.
Our Aim is to reach out to all Military Veterans and Serving Armed Forces in joining us at our home game fixtures, to meet them, their families and friends,within a friendly atmosphere, having a chat and a few laughs too and an ability between us all to offer ongoing friendship and support to each other.
We will always endeavour to reach out to help our Veterans and Serving Armed Forces wherever possible across a range of initiatives and projects throughout the year .
Initiatives so far
- Providing a respite and opportunity to meet like minded friends for a chat in a welcoming environment.
- Inviting our Veterans and Armed Forces to a home game as our guests including tickets for the game. Invited guests will include our Serving men and women whilst on leave.
- 2 x Mascot Package giveaways for youngsters of families.
- 1 x Season ticket giveaway to someone in need .
Although we will continue this project throughout the year and hopefully for many more years to come, we do need donations for support .
I completed the 10km run at Media City on 27th July to help raise much needed funds towards covering the cost of all our ongoing initiatives and to help us reach out further to support our Veterans and Armed Forces.
A huge thanks for any contribution you could afford and please feel free to come and say hello in Bar Station Zebra in the Joe Royle Stand before and sometimes after the games .
