Our mission: NWW is an organization that inspires and raises the voices of Native Women in the outdoor realm. To encourage a healthy life style grounded in the Wilderness. To educate Natives and Non-Natives on the rich beauty of the Ancestral Lands beneath our feet.
Native Women's Wilderness will be donating to two Native run organizations, as well as creating care packages for people experiencing homelessness for the holiday season. Those two organizations are:
Changing Women Initiative (Santa Fe, NM): CWI is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the mission to renew cultural birth knowledge to empower and reclaim indigenous sovereignty of women's medicine and life way teachings to promote reproductive wellness, healing through holistic approaches.
Currently raising funds to move into a birth house, with plans to expand to a birth center. Founded by Nicolle Gonzales RN, BSN, MSN, CNM.
Allen Youth Center (Pine Ridge Reservation, SD): One Spirit built a youth and community center in the poorest place in America- Allen, South Dakota. Completed in 2015, the building and staff provide a safe, welcoming environment for these high risk children. Not only are meals provided, but the children have a small library, games, computers and the center hosts many classes and programs with learning opportunities for everything from Lakota art to daily living skills. Most of all, the children are given loving support.
Currently raising funds to provide tablets so the children can be taught art and digital storytelling remotely by artist Tobe Roberts.
We will also be creating care packages for people in the Denver/Boulder area experiencing homelessness.
