Hello, my name is Grace Downing. I'm a sophomore at Katherine Anne Porter School. I've loved science for as long as I can remember, but the past few years I've been really focused on learning about the medical field and medicine.The idea that you can diagnose someone, and fix a problem that isn't even always externally visible, leaving them to go on and live an amazing life, is incredible to me.
The Congress of Future Medical Leaders is for groups of students who express interest in going into the medical field, have a GPA of 3.5 or higher, and have been nominated for the conference. I have been nominated and accepted. There is a conference in Boston Massachusetts for members in June. At the conference you are able to observe surgeries and talk to amazing doctors. To be able to attend the conference would be a dream come true for me, and would motivate me even further. I thrive when I am around people who have the same passion as I do. I am hopeful this conference will inspire me to become the person I want to be.

About the Program
The Congress is an honors-only program for high school students who want to become physicians or go into medical research fields. The purpose of this event is to honor, inspire, motivate and direct these top students in our country to stay true to their dream and - after the event - to provide a path, plan and resources to help them reach their goal.
The National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists and the Congress of Future Medical Leaders are creations of Richard Rossi and Dr. Connie Mariano www.futuredocs.com/leadership/. Richard founded the National Young Leaders Conference, the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine and a whole host of other programs for high achieving young people; some 640,000 young people have attended these programs over the past 20 years. Dr Mariano was the White House Physician for President George H.W. Bush, President Clinton, and President George W. Bush. She is in private practice in AZ and is a leader in future medical thought who truly cares about raising the next generation of medical leaders.
The Congress will also be a learning experience where students will discover cutting edge medicine and research, observe surgery, gain a wealth of knowledge from patients of groundbreaking medical techniques and be shown a path high-achieving peers have been blazing. There is so much educational content in the Congress that students can earn college credit.
