Nuestra familia está viviendo una tragedia que todavía nos cuesta poner en palabras.

El terremoto de magnitud 7.4 que golpeó Cali el 10 de agosto cambió nuestra familia para siempre.

Vicky y Jairo estaban en su apartamento junto a sus tres hijas trillizas, Isabella, Sofía y Ana María. Con ellos también estaba Diego Caycedo, hermano de Vicky y tío de las trillizas.

En cuestión de segundos, quedaron atrapados bajo los escombros.

Desde ese momento, nuestras vidas se convirtieron en horas interminables de espera, angustia, llamadas, oraciones y esperanza.

Ana María fue rescatada con vida. Sufrió heridas en sus brazos y una fractura de pelvis, ya salió de cirugía y ahora le espera un largo proceso de recuperación. En medio de una tragedia tan inmensa, tenerla con nosotros es una bendición a la que nos aferramos con todas nuestras fuerzas.

Pero las noticias que llegaron después nos destrozaron.

Nuestra Sofía fue encontrada sin vida.

Diego también falleció.

Y hoy recibimos la confirmación que tanto temíamos: Vicky y Jairo también fueron encontrados sin vida. Los encontraron abrazados bajo los escombros. Juntos hasta el final.

No existen palabras para explicar lo que significa perder así a una familia.

Isabella, Sofía y Ana María son trillizas. Llegaron juntas a este mundo y nunca se separaron. Hace muy poco las tres se habían graduado de la universidad y trabajaban juntas. Tenían sueños, planes y toda una vida por delante.

Hoy lloramos la muerte de Sofía, Vicky, Jairo y Diego. Y al mismo tiempo tenemos que reunir todas nuestras fuerzas para acompañar a Ana María en el largo camino que comienza después de su cirugía. Y esperamos aun a Isabella.

Porque esta tragedia no termina cuando terminan las labores de rescate.

Queremos que Ana Maria tenga una base sólida para recuperarse física y emocionalmente y recomenzar su vida, sin tener además que cargar con la preocupación de cómo pagar todo lo que viene.

Por eso estamos pidiendo ayuda.

Cualquier aporte, sin importar la cantidad, puede convertirse en un poco de alivio para nuestra familia en el momento más doloroso de nuestras vidas.

Help Ana María Rebuild Her Life

 Our family is living through a tragedy that we still struggle to put into words. 

 The 7.4 magnitude earthquake that struck Cali on August 10 changed our family forever. Vicky and Jairo were in their apartment with their three triplet daughters, Isabella, Sofía, and Ana María. Also with them was Diego Caycedo, Vicky’s brother and the girls’ uncle. In a matter of seconds, they were trapped beneath the rubble.

From that moment on, our lives became endless hours of waiting, anguish, phone calls, prayers, and hope. Ana María was rescued alive. She suffered injuries to her arms and a fractured pelvis. She has now undergone surgery and faces a long road to recovery. In the middle of such unimaginable tragedy, having her with us is a blessing we are holding onto with everything we have.

 But the news that came afterward shattered us. Our Sofía was found without life. Diego also passed away. 

 And today, we received the confirmation we had feared so deeply: Vicky and Jairo were also found without life. They were found embracing beneath the rubble. 

Together until the very end. There are no words to explain what it means to lose a family this way. Isabella, Sofía, and Ana María are triplets. They came into this world together and were never apart. Not long ago, all three graduated from university and were working together. 

They had dreams, plans, and their entire lives ahead of them. Today, we mourn the loss of Sofía, Vicky, Jairo, and Diego. At the same time, we have to gather every ounce of strength we have to stand beside Ana María through the long journey that begins after her surgery. And we are still waiting for Isabella. We are still searching for her. 

 Because this tragedy does not end when the rescue efforts end. We want Ana María to have a solid foundation to recover physically and emotionally and to begin rebuilding her life, without also having to carry the burden of wondering how everything that comes next will be paid for. That is why we are asking for help. Any contribution, no matter the amount, can bring a little relief to our family during the most painful moment of our lives.
