NO TIME TO DIE PROJECT

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Denise Coopersmith and I am the founder of Good Works Production. I created a project called "No Time To Die." The project is about suicide awareness. My goal is to see this project in both community theaters and in schools.

The vision to the “No Time To Die” project is to bring a serious matter from out of the darkness and into the light on stage. The play is designed to be both emotional and inspirational.  The message about suicide is heard loud and clear on stage.  Not only do we want to entertain our audience, but educate them as well about a serious matter.

Suicide is a major issue that has plagued our society for far too long. Suicide causes much despair to family members and friends. In some cases, they watch helplessly as their loved ones isolate themselves from the rest of the world.

STATISTICS:

•Over one million people die a year due to suicide.

•Of every 100,000 people ages 65 and older, 14.3 died by suicide, since the year 2004.

•In 2010, there were 33,687 deaths from motor vehicle crashes and 38,364 suicides.

• Suicide is the third leading cause of death among young people, resulting in about 4,400 deaths per year, according to the CDC. For every suicide among young people, there are at least 100 attempts. Over 14 percent of high school students have considered suicide, and almost 7 percent have attempted it.

• 10 to 14 year old girls may be at even higher risk for suicide.

Community Theatre Project:

The stage play “No Time To Die” made its first appearance back in 2007. The play ran for two nights and premiered at the Paul Robeson Theater in Detroit, Michigan. The stage play was also featured in one of our major newspapers, the Detroit Free Press. When the curtains closed, Denise Coopersmith, Founder of Good Works Production, LLC, received a standing ovation from the audience. Afterward, the majority of the audience hugged and thanked her for writing such an inspirational stage play.

Seven years later, No Time To Die was brought back to the stage. Why? Because of the sensitive matter that it deals with.  On February 1, 2014, the stage play made its second appearance at the Paul Robeson Theater. Although the play received great reviews, the highlight of the evening was when three women, not all at once, walked up to the Ms. Coopersmith, and said that they too have contemplated suicide before, and how the stage play had given them a different outlook on life. One young lady had even admitted that she thought about  committing suicide that very night, but was dragged out the house by her best friend to see the show. After seeing the play, she stated that she wanted to live and had "No Time To Die!" Others were inspired to spread the word about the stage play and its rewarding benefits.

School Project:

Recently, a disturbing trend has been plastered all over the media, the uprising of bullying in schools. This country has been affected with staggering results showing higher suicide rates in young adults.

The need for suicide awareness is very critical in our schools across metropolitan Detroit.  My project for the schools will focus on suicide awareness, bullying,  and depression. There is a strong connection between bullying and suicide. Youths who are bullied in school are more likely to have suicide tendencies.

This is why we want to take charge and bring awareness of suicide, depression, and bullying to the forefront.

If we can get 20,000 people to give just one dollar a piece, we will be able to meet our goals.

With your contributions, we can give those a voice who are in need of help, and those who have been silenced.

GREAT NEWS! The No Time To Die Project has been awarded a small grant from the Pollination Project. We're also in the Huffington Post!
