Downpayment for a home

Donation protected
UPDATE: We had talks with the landlord. The landlord is allowing us to stay now, but at a very increased rent October onward. This is not great, but there really is no other option but to stay at this point... I have all money raised still in an envelope which will be used towards a downpayment of a home if the goal is ever hit!

Prices of places are all out of control right now, so unfortunately, moving into a "cheaper" location is not an option as there are no cheaper apartments and the cost to move would easily be $3000+ into another rental. Thank you to everyone who helped out and I will provide more updates as they happen! Everything raised so far will be kept safely away until enough has been raised so moving into an affordable home can be done! <3

This is me being honest and asking for help. Even a dollar would be amazing and I will not cash out until the goal is reached (or close to it). I am asking for $13,577 which includes the GoFundMe fees. In my city this is the average amount of a downpayment for a house, and what is needed to quality for a mortgage. I know that this will be my last year renting the apartment I am currently in because the landlord wants to renovate (and grossly up the price). For the last decade I’ve been moving around every couple of years. It’s always one of two things: getting notice of a huge rental increase which prices me out of my home or getting “renovicted” (when a landlord chooses to not renew a lease citing renovations as the reason). Each time the cost of moving is around $3,000+ - first/last month rent, damage deposit, moving truck, etc. My greatest fear is that if I do not soon have a permanent home, I will not have a place for PuuPuu, because unfortunately, many rentals will not allow pigs. In addition, the cost of renting has skyrocketed in the last couple of years and is way above the cost of a mortgage (like almost double).

On a personal very note; my whole life I have struggled with various learning disabilities which has impacted my ability to obtain and keep jobs. I really lucked out when I found success with streaming since my whole life I was denied even the privilege to work. I saw a psychologist and career councillor and the only option I was ever given was to go on “social assistance”... Which is not enough to live, for anyone on it, but that’s a topic for another time.

Furthermore, I sat down and did the math. The very depressing math. In the last 12 years I have paid over $120,000 in rent. It’s just so crushing to realize. In my adult life I’ve already paid for house.

If a downpayment is reached, then a home can be bought here and the price per month – including property tax, insurance, etc – will be significantly cheaper than renting. I analyzed if the surgery for my pain was worth more than a home, and my surgery would be more than this. This is more important than anything. Having to move again to another rental is something I fear could not be done.
