Estamos num momento crucial da nossa causa.
A mata da Quinta dos Ingleses está na iminência de ser destruída, estando assim também em risco a manutenção da orla costeira, da praia e do surf em Carcavelos.
Recusamos projetos urbanos megalómanos junto ao mar. Vivemos em crise climática e a Câmara de Cascais tem o dever de zelar pelo ambiente, segurança e bem-estar da população de Carcavelos. Queremos um parque natural urbano que abranja a totalidade da Quinta dos Ingleses e o terreno frente ao bairro da Torre?
Encontram-se em curso três processos envolvendo o terreno da Quinta dos Ingleses, o terreno do Hilton e o terreno frente ao Bairro da Torre (uma queixa-crime e duas ações administrativas). Uma providência cautelar está agora em preparação. Dispomos apenas de um advogado em regime de voluntariado com algum apoio externo (muito necessário) face a três escritórios de advogados.
O SOS é uma associação ambiental sem fins lucrativos. Não beneficiamos de apoios institucionais ou de outra natureza, pelo que o investimento de tempo e despesas decorrentes estão a ser suportados exclusivamente por donativos e à base do voluntariado de sócios e apoiantes do movimento SOS.
Desta forma, lançamos aqui novo apelo. Sejam 5 ou 500 euros, todos os contributos são importantes para o avanço da nossa causa.

SAVE THE QUINTA, SAVE CARCAVELOS!
We are at a crucial moment of our cause.
The Quinta dos Ingleses woods is on the verge of being destroyed. As a consequence, the survival of the coastline as it is today, as well as of the beach and the surf in Carcavelos are also at risk.
We reject megalomaniac urban projects by the sea! Amid a climate emergency, the duty of the Câmara de Cascais should be to look after the environment, safety and well-being of the population of Carcavelos. We want a natural urban park that covers the whole of the Quinta dos Ingleses and the plot of land in front of the Bairro da Torre.
SOS Quinta dos Ingleses has initiated legal action to protect the woods. There are three ongoing lawsuits, one concerning the Quinta dos Ingleses, another regarding the Hilton plot, and a third to protect the land in front of Bairro da Torre. Our campaign is preparing an injunction/ protective order to present to the court to suspend the building works. But we only have one lawyer working pro bono (with some much needed external support), while the Câmara de Cascais and developers are represented by three law firms. So we need your help to defend our woods, coastline and beach in the courts!
SOS is a non-profit environmental association. We do not benefit from institutional or any other support. All our work and expenses are covered exclusively through voluntary work and donations from its members and supporters. In order to help us succeed in this crucial phase of the campaign, we are launching a new fundraising drive. All contributions matter, large or small: 5 or 500 euros, it all makes a difference to the cause.
