It feels like the world has stopped, doesn’t it?
Yet I am still here – in Suttons Bay– with my family and neighbors, friends and others (though virtually!) during this unprecedented time.
As a photographer, I spend hours capturing portraits of families. Life is still happening in homes right now. I know it. But I can’t be there to capture it.
As soon as our Shelter in Place is lifted, I will begin taking five minute "Front Steps Portraits" of Leelanau County and Traverse City residents. After your quick session, I will email you the digital file of your portrait. In exchange, I am asking you to make a good faith donation to Leelanau Christian Neighbors. I will be posting these images on Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #TheFrontStepsProject
The purpose of this project is to bring us together when we might feel isolated. I aim to highlight the faces of our community during a time when we might not see them in passing at the grocery store, coffee shop, on the trail or at the gym. Participating in this project is also an opportunity to step up to help those who need it most right now in Leelanau County
I will be taking images outside ONLY and from at least 10 feet away. Our session will be brief, likely just 5 minutes. This is not a typical get-dressed-up-and-pose-for-the-photographer session. Want to stand outside in your pajamas and slippers? Sounds good to me. Kids in mismatched clothes but you’re thrilled they got dressed? Fantastic. Wearing your bike gear because you’re headed off to ride a trail in the nice weather? Love it! Be you.

More information about Leelanau Christian Neighbors Inc: The Mission of the Leelanau Christian Neighbors (LCN) is to serve residents of Leelanau County by providing food for the hungry and aiding those who have inadequate resources to respond to emergencies in their lives. Leelanau Christian Neighbors, founded in 1987, is a non-profit 501c(3) organization with a volunteer work force of more than 100. These volunteers are members of an ecumenically diverse group of thirteen churches located in Leelanau County and other residents of the County. The LCN elected Board of Directors meets throughout the year to ensure appropriate and responsible planning and management for the organization's four programs: Food Pantry, Financial Assistance, Blessings in a Backpack and the LCN Baby Pantry. Leelanau Christian Neighbors is committed to meeting the needs of those who might otherwise fall through the cracks of other systems with our programs.
