Hi, my name is Neil Ackers and I am the Chair of the North Wales Prostate Cancer Support Group. I myself am a survivor of Prostate Cancer and my life was saved by having a PSA Test which found the cancer early.
We are a friendly Support Group that meet quarterly in Rhyl, Bangor and Tywyn and have now established Support Groups affiliated with Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, Bodelwyddan, Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor and Ysbyty Tywyn in Meirionnydd.
We are a group whose purpose is to support men who have either recently been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, have undergone treatment or just need someone to talk to about their Prostate Cancer journey.
Prostate Cancer Testing has hit the headlines recently with Sir Chris Hoy’s announcement at the age of 48 his terminal Prostate Cancer diagnosis and the need for men to undertake a Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA), a simple blood test to help spot the disease.
The North Wales Prostate Cancer Support Group has recently fully funded an event in Rhyl for men over the age of 40 to be tested, but is desperately in need of donations to ensure we can continue to get as many men as possible to have a PSA Test at further events across North Wales.
Each individual test costs the Group £25 and we desperately need funding for a minimum of 65 persons to hold each Event.
Please support our campaign, any donation, no matter how small will be greatly appreciated.
