Norfolk Summer Leadership Camp 2019

Have you ever wondered what would happen, if all the leaders, the artists, the scientists, the kind, most creative people of the city decided to actually change it? They’d need a place free from politics and bureaucracy, distractions, judgement - a place where they could begin building a community of tolerance and progress. In 2011, we, the Norfolk Summer Leadership Camp, decided to create that very place.


Our Summer-Leadership Camp is a non-profit, student run camp that operates on the campus of Old Dominion University for four days each summer. The camp invites notable student leaders across Norfolk. These students come together to work through team-building challenges, attend workshops, and brainstorm ideas for transforming their schools. By the time they leave camp, they have the tools and strategies to be the positive change needed in our City, in their homes, and in their schools. Our staff is made up entirely of camp alumni across the city, aside from the director, who is a teacher at Norview High School, Ms. Katie Arroyo.


The purpose of this GoFundMe is to ask you to contribute to our Leadership Grant fund. Our campers often times leave camp full of ideas and inspiration, yet their schools and clubs aren't able to fund those expeditions. So for the first time, Leadership Camp is going to sponsor camper alumni throughout the 2017-2018 school year.
