NOLA Supports Standing Rock

NOLA Supports Standing Rock is a group founded by the indigenous community of New Orleans, La in support of those fighting against the Dakota Access Pipeline in Standing Rock, ND. We are raising money for two caravans for twelve core members to travel from New Orleans up to Standing Rock for a week to stand in solidarity with those already there. Our group includes people from the Lakota, Apache, Choctaw, and Potawatomi tribes. All funds will go to cover travel costs and to support them on their journey. Our goal is to be able to raise approximately $3,700 by October 8, 2016 and will cover all travel expenses and cost for the two caravans.
       This opportunity to travel to Standing Rock is so important to us because it is merely not a simple journey, but a spiritual calling. A calling not to fight but to protect that which is such a sacred and basic necessity for all human life - and that is Water, so that our children and their children can grow up without fear of the cup they drink but to awaken every morning to a beautiful Earth as it was for us. So it is our joy to stand with all those not only in this country, but around the globe who unite in solidarity with the brave souls on the front lines in Standing Rock, ND who fight for our “unalienable rights,” and that is Life.
