Hi Everyone,
First off, I want to thank you for taking the time to visit my gofundme page.
As you already may know, I have been dealing with deteriorating vision in both eyes. After multiple misdiagnoses, I learned that my vision loss is caused by a degenerative eye disorder called Keratoconus. The disorder causes structural changes within the cornea causing it to thin and change to a more conical shape as opposed to the more normal gradual curve.
For the last few years I have struggled with contact lenses and glasses that have not been effective. The reality is that I will eventually need corneal transplants in both eyes.
Luckily, within the past few weeks I met with a specialist who recommended I get fitted for a new type of contact lens. They are called Scleral lenses and are specially shaped and fitted for misshapen cornea. When I was fitted for the Scleral lenses, I was able to see better than I have in the last 14 years.
As you can imagine this type of specialized optical treatment is quite costly and not covered by insurance. The estimated cost to purchase the pair of contact lenses is about $3,000. I have set a goal of raising $3,500 to ensure that all of the expenses are covered.
I have realized that I am unable to cover these expenses on my own and have decided to create this gofundme page as an attempt to raise the funds.
