Nils Wenblad, a production team leader and long term employee for the WS Packaging Wilton NH facility, has had a string of horrible luck with flooding in his area.

It began in March of 2007 when his house was completely flooded due to timing of the dam in his area not being activated soon enough to prevent damage to his home and neighborhood.  The insurance company covered “anything the water touched”, but nothing more.  This meant to properly repair his home he and his wife had to pull from their savings and then borrow against their retirement investments.

January 13th of 2018 Nil’s home was once again flooded.  He woke up at 5:30am to 1 -1.5feet of contaminated water throughout his entire home.  This time the flooding was much worse than before.  His family was given NO WARNING and was quickly forced to evacuate their home that day.

Nils and his wife continue to work with the insurance company, FEMA and a local contractor, but the process is slow and they are still without a home.  Nils and his wife have stayed with friends and their dogs have been in boarding since January 13th.  They hope to get running water back to the house this weekend, but will still be living on bare cement until he can get the contractor to begin work.

Having gone through this before Nils knows insurance, FEMA and other resources available to him will only cover certain things and only a certain amount.  He has once again pulled from his retirement to help subsidize the damages, but having gone through this only 6 years ago there is less there to borrow against.

A few of us here in Wilton heard about Nils’s situation and knew he wasn’t the type to ask for help.  It took some convincing, but he has allowed us to share his story to see what we can do.

The $4,000 will help Nils cover his deductibles and get him money to help with the expenses associated with the displacement of him, his wife and his beloved pets (7 weeks and counting!!).  He was clear he isn’t looking for anything more than to cover what is needed to make the repairs and to get the contractor started.  At the time of us writing this he has yet to get any insurance money that would allow him to keep the contractor he is working with going.

The Wilton NH WS Packaging facility will be holding a bake sale, spaghetti luncheon and 25/75 lotto with proceeds to go to Nils and his family through this link.  We ask other facilities to do what they can to assist Nils, every little bit helps and even if you share his story to others who are more able to assist you are helping him and his family by spreading the word.

There is a lot of work to be done . . .
