“I am the President of NFLPA (NFL Retired Players Association) Seattle Chapter. I am joining forces with members the NFL Alumni and the nonprofit organization Shirts Across America to build homes for families. My goal is to raise funds in support of New Orleans and Puerto Rico.”
I recently returned from Puerto Rico and like New Orleans, it appears to be a place forgotten. As Americans, we cannot allow this to continue. My heart bleeds for these displaced people. Volunteering your time, money, or energy to help others doesn’t just make the world better—it also makes us better. The phrase “It is better to give than receive” is my mantra. I feel my heart strengthen each time I see a smile from someone who just received the keys to their new home.
I have personally donated over $10,000.00 and more than 100 hours of my time in the past year to my brothers and sisters in need in New Orleans as well as Puerto Rico. I am asking “YOU” please step up to the plate as we remind ourselves how strong America is when we come together. Please give what you can today….
